Trailers Built on Family and Big Ideas

The Diamond C Equipment Trailer wasn't built in a day, but a 40 year legacy

Over 40 years ago, Mike and Kim Crabb (founders) had a dream. To build better trailers. They weren’t looking to cut corners or crank out thousands of cookie-cutter haulers.

They started small, in East Texas, and grew Diamond C Trailers into one of the most respected names in the trailer industry.

Designing a Diamond C Trailer

Long before technicians cut, bend or weld any steel Diamond C Trailer Parts. A team of talented engineers built a blueprint for the trailer. Making sure the type of trailer they are creating can match the jobs they will be used for without falter.

There are no short cuts when it comes to design and building a Diamond C deckover trailer. This meticulous planning process pays off when the trailer enters its building stage.

Building A Diamond C Trailer

The first step of taking a large square of steel and turning it into a trailer starts at the beam plant where people assist laser cutting robots to get the best cuts while wasting the least amount of product. After being cut the individual pieces are sent to another facility.

The welding facility happens to be down the road this is where the trailer frame will be assembled. A skilled group of trades men and women manage the floor and quality control of the welding process. Preparing them for their next step, Diamond C DM powder coating.

Diamond C Trailers Are Durable

Diamond C Equipment trailers and others come standard with Engineered I-Beams. Every trailer frame is built with Engineered I-Beams, which means they’re lighter than most but still really tough. Their powder coat finish helps fight off rust, chips, and bad weather. And they’re loaded with features like better tie-down spots, smoother ramps, and upgraded jacks that make life easier.

Painting a Diamond C Trailer

The DM powder coating is a Diamond C designed system to create “extraordinary trailer finishes.” Where “DM” stands for “Difference Maker”.

Here is the DM Powder Coating Process according to the Diamond C Website

  1. The trailer frame is blasted with steel shot to add an anchor profile for the primer to really stick to.
  2. Each trailer frame is put through a 5-stage wash process to clean the steel, add corrosion resistance, and balance pH.
    • Alkaline wash removes blast dust and oils
    • High-pressure rinse
    • Phosphate salt rinse inhibits rust and helps with paint adhesion
    • High-pressure rinse
    • Final sealing rinse is applied
    • All wash water is reverse osmosis purified to ensure consistency
  3. All washed trailer frames are quickly force dried through a dry-off oven at 300 degrees.
  4. Ultra-corrosion-resistant Onecure Zinc Epoxy Primer powder coating is electrostatically applied to the entire trailer frame.
  5. Smooth, high gloss, Onecure Technology Top Coat is electrostatically applied to the entire trailer frame.
  6. Finally the top coat is cured in a 165′ oven at 450 degrees. All steel surpasses 425 degrees to ensure complete curing of primer and top coat.

Assembling a Diamond C Trailer

Assembly and quality control are the final steps before trailers ship to Diamond C Dealers. Finally assembly looks a lot like adding and testing lights, wires and decals.

A Diamond C trailer will never leave the final building until it passes quality control. A special team will test all the components on the trailer to make sure everything is working how it is supposed to.
