Ever wonder how trailers are made?
Load Trail Equipment trailers and Car haulers are just the start of the Load Trail line up
You can find Load Trail Dump trailers for sale just about anywhere. But they start where most medium duty trailers start as a piece or raw steel on an assembly line in East Texas.
In this blog we show you a peek behind the scenes at Load Trail, one of the most trusted names in the trailer game. Their massive facility in Sumner, Texas, is where the magic happens. And we’re not talking small-scale, this place is huge.
Over 500,000 square feet of nonstop welding, blasting, and painting. With more than 500 skilled workers on deck, every Load Trail trailer is built with serious muscle and care.

Load Trail: Built for the Long Haul
Since 1996, Load Trail has been building trailers that can handle just about anything. Whether you're hauling tools, toys, or tonnage, they've got something for you. Their trailer lineup includes:
- Gooseneck Trailers
- Dump Trailer
- Deckover Trailers
- Tilt Decks
- Utility & Landscape Trailers
- Car & Equipment Haulers
Add MAX Features to Your Load Trail Trailer
Load Trail trailers can be upgraded with powerful MAX features designed for serious jobs.
The MAX-Step makes it easier and safer to climb on and off your trailer. The MAX-Rail adds strong side support to help secure your load. The MAX-Ramp is built tough for loading heavy equipment with less hassle. And the MAX-Bed gives you extra room with a wider, longer bed, great for oversized cargo.

The Secret Sauce: Powder Coating
Load Trail uses the Sherwin Williams Powdura OneCure, and offers 20+ different colors
Let’s talk about the finish. Load Trail doesn’t just slap on some paint and call it a day. Their powder coating process is a big reason these trailers last so long.
Load Trail’s Powder Coating Process
- Blast – First, the trailer frames get blasted clean. Think of it like giving the metal a really deep scrub. It scrubs away rust and old scales so the coating sticks like glue.
- Wash – Next, a special wash made with Zirconium Phosphate gets rid of any leftover grime and seals the surface. This step makes the coating stronger and smoother.
- Dry – After the wash, the trailers take a trip through a hot-air dryer to make sure there’s zero moisture left.
- Prime – Then comes the primer. Load Trail uses a dry-on-dry Zinc Epoxy primer, which helps the color stick better and protects against rust.
- Color – Now for the fun part. Premium powder gets sprayed on in one of 20 bold colors. This isn’t regular paint, it resists weather, keeps its shine, and stays tough.
- Cure – Finally, everything goes into a super-hot oven. This baking process locks in the coating, making it strong enough to stand up to rain, sun, mud, you name it.
