Find a new Galvanized Trailer : Discover Drive Trailers

Drive Trailers started Manufacturing a small Galvanized Trailer in 2024, and it’s already making waves across the Midwest. Launched by Larson Cable Trailers, a company that’s been around for over 25 years. Larson is a division of Felling Trailers, which has built a strong name in heavy-duty haulers.

If you drive about an hour west from South Dakota’s eastern border, you’ll find yourself in a small town called Huron. It’s known for hosting the South Dakota State Fair, lots of rodeos, and that iconic pheasant statue. But tucked into this small town is something unexpected, a new Galvanized trailer manufacturer, Drive Trailers.

Drive Trailers didn’t just start building Galvanized Trailers out of nowhere. They’re an expansion of Larson Cable Trailers, which, again, is part of Felling Trailers. Larson built its reputation on trailers made for utility crews and power companies.

Aluminum vs Galvanized Trailer

There is no debate when it comes to an aluminum trailer vs galvanized and strength. The Galvanized trailer will outlast the aluminum hauler.

Galvanization isn’t the cheapest route, but it offers superior rust resistance and long-term durability. It was a calculated move that mirrored the standards set by their commercial-grade Larson Cable trailers.

How do you make a Galvanized Utility Trailer?
Galvanized utility trailers aren't something you see every day. They're usually found in commercial fleets or on specialized jobsites. That's exactly what makes Drive Trailers stand out.

To make a trailer "galvanized," Drive Trailers transports their steel trailer frames to an outsourced company that has huge vats of molten zinc oxide. They use a large crane to lift the steel trailer frames and dip them in the molten zinc oxide. Let them cool, reload them, and transport them back to their plant in South Dakota for final assembly and quality control checks.

All of these extra steps and transport are usually reflected in the price of a galvanized trailer. Even though these trailers tend to be pricier, they will always win in the long run in the aluminum trailer vs. galvanized battle.

Why a Galvanized Steel Trailer Matters

The Drive Trailers shop isn’t massive, but it’s full of purpose. Welders, builders, and admin all move with focus, and there’s a sense of pride behind every trailer that leaves the line. We got to watch their trailer technicians finish up a galvanized trailer for its trip to Minnesota, and it was clear: every bolt, weld, and tire was assembled with care.

By offering galvanized trailers for sale to everyday buyers, they’re delivering commercial-grade durability. In an economy where people are watching their spending, this kind of build quality really matters.
